Dr. Hand has published peer-reviewed articles as well as a scientific monograph of his doctoral dissertation. He has done numerous peer-presentations at the local, regional, and international level. After being influenced by family members and friends, he became involved in his profession and attributes his success to having excellent mentorship as well as strong intrinsic motivation.

A nationally board certified oncology nurse and nurse executive, Dr. Hand received his Doctor of Education from Pepperdine University in 2006, his Master of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of California Los Angeles in 2000, and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 1995. He is a member of the Association of California Nurse Leaders, the National League for Nursing, Western Institute of Nursing, The Honor Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau, and Phi Delta Kappa International.
