Educational Technology Foundation of WNY Spring Fundraiser; Uniting the Community
BUFFALO, NY, March 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Educational Technology Foundation of WNY will be kicking off the spring season with its annual spring fundraiser on April 30th. The event will take place along the Niagara River at Harry' s Harbour Grille Place from 5:30-8pm. This year's fundraiser will be an event focusing on bringing the community together to celebrate their support, as well as to spread awareness of the foundation's commitment to educational access of technology. All are welcomed; returning volunteers, participants, sponsors, donators, and simply those interested. The event will cater to all with an array of cocktails & hors d'oeuvres, along with an auction and raffle prizes. Tickets will be sold through the organization's web site (edtechday.org). Sponsored by Synacor, Working Knowledge, WKBW, i-Evolve, Cooks Moving, and RLComputing.
Today, technology evolves at the speed of light. Local schools, community centers and other organizations are often challenged with finding the resources and technology expertise to ensure that their students are equipped with the tools they need to learn and excel. Every four to five years, computer equipment becomes obsolete and requires updating. The Ed Tech Foundation brings light to this problem through its presence in the Western New York Community. This spring fundraiser will reflect on the success of the nonprofit and revive the flame it has within the WNY community.
The Ed Tech Foundation remains dedicated to increase access and equity of technology in education, especially to under served populations. The organization has impacted over 80 public schools, private schools and community centers in the last five years and installed over 800 computers. Through the sponsorship of Ed Tech Day held by The Ed Tech Foundation, a volunteer effort is held annually on the third Tuesday of August. Teams of volunteers install, configure and upgrade hundreds of computers, networks and servers in local schools, community centers and other non-profit organizations using equipment and services that are donated from companies in the Buffalo area. This project is a grass roots effort that relies on the WNY community for labor and equipment without administrative overhead
