Indiana Department of Workforce Development approves Practice Management Institute's CMC to State Education and Training Choices System
Practice Management Institute (PMI) announced that the Indiana Workforce Investment Board and the State of Indiana have approved PMI's Certified Medical Coder (CMC) course to its list of programs approved for Workforce Investment Training funding.

SAN ANTONIO, TX, April 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Practice Management Institute (PMI), provider of the Certified Medical Coder (CMC) credential for medical office personnel, today announced that the Indiana Workforce Investment Board and the State of Indiana have approved the course to its list of programs approved for Workforce Investment Training funding. The course was approved in both the live class and online versions.

The course will now appear on the Statewide Eligible Training Provider List.

"Physicians are looking for certified professionals who have the ability to code with or without the computer," said Gretchen Pike, Coordinator of Provider & Payer Relations for Hancock Regional Hospital, and Director of the Hancock Regional PHO in central Indiana. "Access to this credentialing program will assist many looking to build stronger careers as a medical coder."

In 2004, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) named PMI's Certified Medical Coder program as an example of coder certification programs that could be utilized to fulfill its coding certification requirement of Medicare Contractors. The requirement stems from implementation guidelines for the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA). This recognition reinforces PMI's position as a top provider of certification for medical office staff.

Students learn fundamental skills like medical terminology and anatomy, as well as the intricacies of CPT, ICD-9-CM, and HCPCS coding systems. Professionalism and confidentiality issues are also addressed.

PMI training classes and certification programs are currently offered to physicians and their staffs in 400 of the nation's leading hospitals, health care systems, colleges and medical societies. For more information, visit www.pmiMD.com or call 800-259-5562.
