Voice Actors turn out for Haiti relief
Two of the country's leading Voice Acting educators, Voice Coaches and Edge Studio, teamed up to raise money for the relief efforts in Haiti.
SCHENECTADY, NY, February 13, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Over 200 Voice Actors from across America and abroad came together February 10 and raised nearly $6,000 for Haiti relief in a first-of-its-kind event. The Hear My Voice tele-conference featured the industry's leading audiobook Voice Actors and producers in a spirited two-hour panel discussion and question-and-answer session. The money raised will be donated to the American Red Cross Haiti relief fund.
Equally impressive were the tremendous experts that donated their time and expertise, making this the most experienced educational gathering for audiobook professionals in the history of the voice over field. The panel featured multiple award-winning audiobook Voice Actors such as Barbara Rosenblat, Alan Sklar, Carol Monda, Grover Gardner, Deb Munro, Robin Miles and Marc Cashman, whose voices have been heard on audiobooks such as Harry Potter, Black Hawk Down, A Civil Action, and much more.
On the panel alongside these audiobook luminaries were audiobook producers Dan Bostick and John Marshall Cheary. David Bourgeois, president and creative director of Voice Coaches, and David Goldberg, founder of Edge Studio, created the Hear My Voice fund raising event and co-hosted the session, which provided two hours of education to professional voice actors hoping to build success in the audiobook field.
Bourgeois is in the process of registering Hear My Voice as a not-for-profit organization with plans to bring the Voice Acting community together in times of need. Future events will focus on different areas of the voice over field.
